What is the best colored artificial bait for largemouth bass?
Robalo / Imbé

What si the best color for an artificial bait for largemouth bass? What type of artificial bait? (Is rubber worms really the best?) Or is it better to use live shiners? I am going to be fishing in Tarpon Springs, Florida. (Anderson Park).

Thanks for all the help,
CarlitoforWWEChamp

In Florida Live shiners are the best bait going so give them a try , I like to fish them about 4 feet under a bobber . The bigger the shiners the better.

I have done well here in FL with purple colored worms , I like Culprit fire and ice color in 7.5 inch size Texas rigged

Here is a picture of the color of a fire and ice worm and an average FL bass I caught off it http://i9.tinypic.com/4l4ablh.jpg

What is the best kind of artificial bait for sunfish, catfish, or trout?
Traíra / Braço Morto / Hoplias Malabaricus

I've been fishing in a small stream near my house and worms work great, but I want to try artificial baits also. And I already know about chicken livers and corn.

hey man, i really don't know about a whole lot of artificial baits for the ol kitty kitty fish. you said that you know about chicken liver and corn, but have you tried the stink baits. you can get stink baits that are made of different mixtures, but the one that i really like is the bait mae of shrimp and chicken blood. the stink baits are a dough so you can pack them on a hook and they will stay on better than chicken liver. the best hook that i have found that the baits stay on better with is a good sized trebble hook.

for the sunfish, a small broke back minnow 3"-4" or the all american favorite classic, the bettle spin. i like the bait that is black with green legs or the white body with a red dot on the back, i don't care what color legs that it has. the legs gives it a more life like look.

where i am living there isn't any trout fishing around here but what i have seen on the tv is probably the same thing that you already know. the best advice that i have are flies. i don't know what are the best but i have found all kinds of web sites on the net that may answer that one. we do fly fishing around here but it isn't for trout, just mostly sunfish and bass.

i hope that helps you out some. good luck and good fishin

What is the best artificial bait to catch trout?

We fish in stocked trout streams. My kids hate using worms because their messy and they feel sorry for the worm. We have tried Powerbait and Yum but had no luck (even though some people swear by it). We never even got a bite. Any suggestions?

Plenty of excellent answer's already!
Here's another "route".

This may sound crazy, but "Stocked" Trout tend to favor "brownish balls about the size of a dime".

They are fed these when they are fingerlings at the hatchery's.

A brownish "ball-fly" soaked in trout attractant (or the new Berkley "Gulp" Earthworm flavored attractant), would be another presentation to try.

I have found that stocked Trout are almost ALWAYS harder to fool than "wild" ones.
To be honest, I don't know why!?!! Seems like it would be the other way around! (lol)

Well, you got some great answer's! Just wanted to throw in my 2 cent's. Hope it helps somewhat. Good luck!

Who prefers to fish with live bait over artificial baits? What do you fish for?

What part of the country?

Depends on what I am fishing for. I prefer live bait, but usually what I do is have a few live bait poles and a few artificial poles rigged up. I fish in southeast Florida and I can't tell you how many times I have been sitting some live baits at the bottom, and something will be popping on the surface. I just like to diversify....you know put the odds a little more in my favor.

The 2009 Fishing Season Has Been Great Today it Gets Better - Orange Beach

I believe traveling many miles out into the gulf away from all of the fishing pressure is the place to be. How about 50 miles or farther? You know, that hot spot where no one ever goes. You plan for days or even weeks selecting the right baits, the right tackle and the right anglers. This is the big trip. You can’t take just anybody. You select your perfect anglers and give them instructions on how to fish for the big one - even though you know they probably won’t listen. Once you arrive to that secret fishing spot, they will do their own thing. Oh well, that’s ok too. Maybe I will just catch the big one. I like to fish the deeper water. I know I may also catch grouper or amberjack. This would not be bad. I make sure I have adequate weight to get this big bait down to the bottom. A giant pinfish is my choice today. I prefer a nice long leader approximately 6 - 8 feet long. Eighty pound test is essential when fishing near the bottom. It must be strong enough to endure rubbing against

Spring Fishing for Pike

Fishing for pike any time of the year is very exciting and spring fishing for pike is outstanding. Pike are active all year round, and many anglers target pike while ice fishing. Once the ice clears out in the spring, and the water begins to warm, pike will make their way into warmer water getting ready to spawn.

The Best Place to find Pike

Thus, the best place to find pike during the spring is in back bays with shallower water. Marinas for example, are great locations to find pike. Marinas are generally located in protected areas & the water typically warms up sooner.

Effective Ways to Catch Pike Pike Fishing

Pike Fishing

One of the most effective ways to catch pike during this time of year is to fish suspended with the use of a bobber. Typically, you would leave about 3 to 4 feet of line below your bobber to your baited hook.

It’s best to use live bait or cut bait, but artificial bait will work as well – it just needs to be fished differently. You can let your live bait or cut bait sit in one spot, while you are waiting for a hit – but artificial bait will need to be moved.

When using artificial bait, 3 to 4 feet below your bobber, you would cast it out, let your line settle, then pull your bobber toward you a foot or so, then pause & let your line settle again. Continue with this process until you have retrieved you bait & then cast out again and do this again.

Best Casting Practices

You should vary your casts into different areas, in order to cover more water, and if you are using artificial baits below your bobber, be sure that your artificial bait remains in a horizontal position, as that is most natural and will provoke more strikes. The artificial bait that works best is any soft plastic, minnow imitator style bait. Scented is better that unscented.
