i need a long casting reel for where i fish
I use a Shimano Baitrunner or a Shimano Sedonna reel, yet casting is more about the fishing pole and technique rather than the reel. As far as fishing poles, St. Croix and Lamiglas are best for distance. As far as technique, check out the video.

I know it gets brittle and twisted if you used it should I replace it to go bullhead fishing

its just for trout so any is fine...but the for the price of those that your looking at...i would look else where and get a better one...
My dad loves the sport of fishing as much as i do, but his money is very low. He owns only 2 rods and reels, which he uses for carp, suckers and catfish. Both reel/rods are very old, one being the Zebco 33 combo, and the other a Johnson Century combo. I have talked with him about getting him a good rod/reel because, he has always been there for me ... I don't know why i didn't get him another one years ago ...
ok, here's what he likes .
1.) Spincasters. He likes spinning reels, and dreadfully hates baitcasters, as a joke he said he would buy out every baitcasting company and burn all their reels! LMAO ... He said he would want a spincaster, also I'm about 90% in on getting a spincasting outfit, and the other 10 on a spinning combo.
2.) He doesn't like a long rod. 6' is big enough, as he puts it. Easy to carry, and transport. If 6'6 is available it will be alright also.
3.) He fishes for carp, catfish and suckers as said.
4.) The combo should cost less than 45 bucks, and can be bought from Wal-Mart.
5.) And his favorite brands are Zebco, Johnson and Abu Garcia.
He swears by the old 33's, and says that the new ones are not nearly as good ... You think the Platinum series 33 would be any better than the Authentic one?

Baitcasting or spincasting would be fine Got around hundred dollars
Bump your bucks a bit and you can get a 113h combo for $159 more or less and this will be good for most average shark fishing.
Bass pro,Walmart or your local tackle dealer would be your best option for service and the knowledge!
There is no doubt in my mind that Spring is in the air. By the way this is the first official day of Spring and it certainly feels like it. Before I get to the meat of my story please allow me to share a few warm weather observations with you. I can tell you the birds know that spring and love is the air. The resident geese are busy pairing up and building nests while the migratory geese are heading north by the thousands. The turkeys are gobbling as their mating season begins and the migrating songbirds are returning to their local nesting areas.
The game birds known as the woodcock are also in the mood for love. I watched several of this pigeon sizes migratory birds do their courtship dance. It is quite an amazing sight to see and hear. Find yourself an open grassy field surrounding by dense thick cover and you’re bound to find mating woodcock. Shortly before sunrise and just after sunset is when it all happens. The male woodcock will proudly puff up its chest, display its full wing spread and make a noise that sounds a lot like a “Peen”. This timely display should attract an interested female (hen) and the cycle of life continues. The hen will build a nest close by and a brood of young woodcock should be hatched in less then a month.

#4 A free-turning bail roller. The roller must must turn when the line passes over, If it does not, heat and abrasion will damage the line and may wear a grove in the roller.
