Is it better to hold a fish with a thick towel or fishing gloves when taking them off the hook?
Gloves 7684

I really don't want to have to go buy a pair of fishing gloves but if a towel won't work I will. Which works best? A lady that I go to the lake with uses a towel.I don't fish because I am afraid the fish will fin me when I take them off the hook. I really want to start fishing because it looks so fun.So which works best?

I have always used a towel. the gloves are just too much of a pain to deal with and i get a better grip with the towel. just grab an hand towel that is ready to be turned into the car washing rag. this size can fit nicely in some tackle boxes.

For lobster fishing what gloves are better?
things i see

You know when your going lobster fishing and you need a pair of gloves what ones do you get the orange, blue or black? What do you find best?
Orange are the thinest, blue are thicker and black is very thick and is lined.
So black is out. This fishing is in summer but sum days can be cool.

As Jonathan pointed out, color be not the main concern (unless it be personal preference?), especially with them Lobsters, the material be more the main issue. Kevelar would be your best bet and link shows them in Black. If ya' still want an answer on color's ~ think I'd go w/ the Black;). Yummmmmm', LOVE those Lobsters, specially' the biggies from the state of Maine;)...< * ( {{ > <

Added: Yo', I was leanin' towards your protection, not the temperature/heat factor. I've done many, a' MANY lobsters before and them pincher's can cause some nasty cuts, ya' know as in the tool ~ pneumatic vice grips... Don't say I didn't warn ya;)...

Where can I find a fishing spot to fish with swordfish gloves?
things i see

I can't find a single place on runescape for a non-member account to fish using swordfish gloves. Now i am pissed.Does anyone know where I can find a spot?

The best and probably only place you'll find where you can fish Swordfish is probably at the dock in Karamja where the Lobsters could be found.

If that doesn't help, try around Al Kharid or Lumbridge since they are ocean-found fish.

Is it safe to use Rubber gloves in a fish tank?

I've been fishkeeping for a short period of time. And I noticed I get a skin reaction to my hands due to dechlorinator or other med related products put into the fish tank water. I've been to various pet shops in my city looking for long arm plastic gloves for tanks, but none are available/they've never had it. I would like to know if I purchased brandnew rubber gloves (like those used for kitchens), would that be safe for the fish?

I know rubber and plastic have chemicals, so I'm not sure what to do at this point. I have not used gloves at all, I wash my hands with water thoroughly, however, given my skin allergies...I have to find a way to put my hands in the tank with gloves...and I do not want to kill a fish due to any type of gloves.

Feedback on what I should is appreciated. I've been told to use sterilized med gloves, but they are very short for a tank.

Thanks

These are available, but your store may not carry them. Here's the type I have for working in saltwater tanks: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/209636/product.web

The types made for dishwashing, painting, or the surgical types are okay to use as long as you don't get in water over the cuffs - many of these have other substances/powder inside to keep them from sticking to your hands. The type shown in the photo come up to your elbows. And at half orange and half purple, they make quite a fashion statement!

You might want to print out the page and take it in to your store to see if they would special order these for you.

Talking it over -4-8-10 Morris Sun Tribune

The snow is gone, the temperatures are warming, Easter is over and we are now into the season of white -- wearing white that is. During my adolescent years I quickly learned a few rules about fashion and one of those involved the wearing of white.

I am not sure if it was my mother, friends or through magazines that I learned about the rule of white. No matter how it came to be known to me, I quickly adapted to it and policed it like so many others. The cardinal rule, one that is not actually written but just passed along from generation to generation, is that you don’t wear white after Labor Day or before Easter.

Now this didn’t mean just any form of white. White t-shirts, shirts, and of course underwear, were all okay. However, white shoes, slacks, coats, or purses were simply not to be worn during the fall, winter and early spring months. It was just a fashion no-no for many, many years and is something I just can’t get away from.

There were other fashion statements made during these years, some that I can easily break and others that continue to stick with me. I still can’t quite bring myself to wear plaids and stripes or pink and red together, and socks with sandals just don’t work for me (unless my feet get really cold). I don’t know if I am worried that the fashion police will arrest me or just that people will whisper and laugh about my attire behind my back.

Ice Fishing Gloves

Ice Fishing Gloves

Gone are the days of yesteryear when it was acceptable to have frozen hands while ice fishing. Today, to go along with the comfort phase of "modern ice fishing" ice fishing gloves have come a long ways.  Back in the day we wore bulky cotton gloves that absorbed water and then turned to ice immediately.  This invariably led to freezing hands and a quick exit from the lake.  The wide array of gloves available these days makes those days a thing of the past.

Given that your hands are bound to get wet while ice fishing, a waterproof glove is paramount to keeping your hands warm.  To that end, this should be a large consideration when choosing the glove that you will wear on the ice.  A thin glove is a must to allow for dexterity while not sacrificing much warmth.  With those two key things in mind, let's look at a few different ice fishing gloves available today:

Ice Armor Ice Fishing Gloves

Born from the same great material that makes up the Ice Armor outerwear, the gloves to match the set are an

excellent addition to any ice anglers arsenal.  The glove is waterproof and windproof.  While a little bit big, the dexterity is still there in this glove.  I would consider this the cadillac of ice angling gloves.  Also available in ice fishing mitts.

Neoprene Ice Fishing Gloves

With the advent of neoprene came the flexibility and warmth afforded by its design.  Allowing for a form fit on your hand, neoprene gloves are absolutely waterproof and allow for great agility.  Unfortunately in my experience they do tend to be a bit on the cold side due to their tight fit.  If you elect for a looser fit you lose a lot of the dexterity.  It is a double edged sword.  I like the price point, but there are definitely some lacking features with neoprene gloves.
