How do I fix our hummingbird feeder's diaphram from malfunctioning?
The diaphram on our hummingbird feeder is designed to make it easier for humming birds to obtain their sugar solution while feeding by supplying the liquid more effeciently to the feeder. Our feeder's diaphram is malfunctioning forcing all the liquid out of the feeder immediately. Anyone experienced with the type of hummingbird feeders with diaphrams that knows how to fix this?
I am not sure exactly what you are talking about with the diaphram on the feeder. If you are talking about the bottle type with the tube then this site should help you. Here is the question on the site and how it was answered.
How do I keep my hummingbird feeder from dripping?
If you are using a bottle feeder with a tube, it is important that you fill the bottle completely full when refilling. If only filled partially, it will not be able to create the vacuum that prevents the nectar from dripping out of the tube. There is alot of great info on this site...check it out.

Do feeder mice have parasites or diseases that can be harmful to my snake?
Im getting a ball python and a corn snake..im planning on buying live feeder mice from petco and HUMANLEY killing them at home and then feeding it to my snakes..however..do these feeder mice carry diseases and parasites harmful to my snakes?
And is it enough to feed a baby ball python 1 hopper per week?
and is it ok to feed a baby corn snake 1 pinkie a week?can a baby cornsnake eat a fuzzy?
I buy frozen mice and pinkies and thaw what I want in a plastic "baggie" overnite, then bring it to room temp. right before I feed my snakes. I have never had any problems with them. I have had a Blair's King ( a.k.a. Gray-Banded King) for 10 years and a young Albino Ruthvens King that I've had under a year and they're doing great....... You never know with live mice, if they get them in healthy, they could still catch something.

Which bottom feeder will be compatible with my tetra community tank?
I have a 25 gallon tank with neon tetras, glow light and balloon red eye tetra. My tank has no gravel but just some stones as deco and a plant that grows on a piece of rock. Much food gets accumulated on the bottom and none of the tetras seems to care, so I thought of getting a bottom feeder to do the 'cleaning'. Which bottom feeder should I get and how many? Cory, Oto, etc?
cories would be nice, small and active. there's a bunch of different kinds your can get, so look around for one that suits you.
keep in mind that alot of whats on the bottom isn't food but poo. so you'll still have to vacuum it out when you do your water changes.

Is it okay for a regular bird feeder and a hummingird feeder to be close together?
We have had a hummingbird feeder for over a year, and today we bought a regular bird feeder. The problem is, we only have two trees, and they are very close together. Is it okay for the two different kinds of feeders to be near each other?
I have both suet and hummingbird feeder in my yard hanging about 7-8 feet apart and have not had any problems. The birds usually stick to the proper feeder and don't bother each other. The hummingbird will occassionally check out the suet feeder when his runs out of nectar.

What type of bottom feeder/algae eater should I get for my tank?
Okay, about 6 months ago I bought a 10 gallon starter tank and three small fancytail goldfish. Please don't give me a lecture about how dirty goldfish are, they're really not, as long as I don't forget to clean and change my filter regularly. Any-hoo, My fish, obviously have grown and I do plan on moving up to a 20-30 gallon tank in the next 6 months or so. My question is: what type of bottom feeder or algae eater should I get for my tank? I've got a bit of algae growing on the sides of the tank and on the decorative things. I wasn't sure what type of fish would be best. I don't want something that will outgrow the goldfish, or a fish that will be too aggressive, my goldfish are big softies. Anyways, I know bottom feeders and algea eaters don't live completely on missed food and algae, I know they have their own diet needs, I just want an idea of a docile, slower growing bottom (and side) dwelling fish. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!
Yes, my tank is heated. We don't run heat in our house so it gets quite cold in the winter time.
One of the very best for your situation would be cory catfish. They won't eat much algae if any, but will help eat food that gets past the goldfish. Most of them can tolerate temperatures that are comfortable for your goldfish as well. They are also small and peaceful and will move up to the larger tank with ease. Start with 2 in your 10 gallon and add to the school when you get the larger tank. I would suggest you get that larger tank as soon as possible and with 3 fancy goldfish, a 30 gallon would be a minimum size you should go for.
Corys do well on most any sort of sinking foods. Brine shrimp pellets and blood worms are two of their favorites.
I would NOT suggest a pleco or other sucker mouthed fish. Common plecos grow far too larger for even a 30 gallon tank and the smaller varieties would require temperatures your goldfish wouldn't like. The very common Chinese algae eater only eats algae when it is small, it gets large for the tank space and is a nasty ill tempered fish able and willing to hurt your goldfish when it gets larger.
Hope that helps
ADDITION: A few snails would help with the algae as well.

What is the difference between feeder mice and fancy mice?
I have fancy mice but what is the difference? Are feeder mice wild and untamed? What would be wrong with owning a feeder mice as a pet? I was just randomly thinking about it.
Every fancy mouse i see is spotted and has some color when i see feeder mice they are all white with red eyes. fancy have black..
I know there is a difference in price feeder mice are around 2 bucks when my fancy mice were 6 each. but i mean if i wanted a feeder mouse in with my fancy would it be okay?
If you buy your mice at pet stores, there is no difference between feeder mice and fancy mice. The mice are labled for whichever will give the store the most money in the cash register.
Just as with rats, pet store mice are mass produced in the same way that puppy mills work. Their health is not the best, but they are not meant to be long-lived.
I know of one store that would pick out the fancier looking mice from a shipment and put these mice aside as pets. The rest would be sold as reptile food.
If you want healthy, fancy mice bred strictly for pets, you need to buy from an ethical, compassionate, breeder.
"Feeder" mice need not be wild and untamed. They can be very friendly towards their human care-givers, and make good pets, albeit, not as healthy.

Hummingbirds coming soon Lynchburg News and Advance
One suggestion for celebrating April Fool’s Day (Thursday) is by putting up your hummingbird feeder.
Although most of the birds won’t arrive for another 10 days to two weeks, we do have an early record of March 27. The birds tend to follow the azalea bloom north, and we usually begin to spot them in our gardens when these flowers appear. This has been a rather late spring, and I have not yet had any reports of hummingbirds in our area for this year.
By August we are filling five or six feeders every day, but I always start with just one. After the hummingbird numbers begin to increase, I hang additional feeders. Since it is important to offer a fresh sugar solution, I only put a small amount in the feeder early in the season. When the migrants first begin to move into the area, you can’t expect a lot of customers at your feeder.
During the cool temperatures of spring, change the solution about every five or six days. Of course, after it gets hot it will be necessary to make more frequent changes. Before you hang your feeder, make certain that it is very clean. Mold tends to grow in the small crevices of the nectar ports, and a dirty feeder is harmful to the birds.
