www.thundermistfishingtips.com Here at Thundermist Lure Company, we've been asked several times "How do I spool line onto my reel ...
What is the angular acceleration of the fishing reel?
How much line does the fish pull from the reel in 0.35 s?
A fish takes the bait and pulls on the line with a force of 2.3 N. The fishing reel, which rotates without friction, is a uniform cylinder of radius 0.040 m and mass 0.94 kg
Is this a solid cylinder or hollow cylinder?
For solid, I=m*r^2/2.
If hollow, I=m*r^2
I will assume it is solid. If not, simply recalculate with the different moment of inertia.
2.3*0.040=0.94*0.040^2*α/2
solve for α
2*2.3*/(0.94*0.040)=α
122 rad/s^2
the angular displacement in 0.35 seconds is
.5*122*0.35^2 rad
7.47 rad
the anmount of line pulled is
7.47*2*π*0.040
1.88 m

Who invent the first fishing reel and when was angling hobby first started?
Fishing reels are presently used by every anglers during fishing trips. Please specify the actual invention of the fishing reels. Can anglers do well without a fishing reel during a fishing trip?
ancient egyptians fished. ancient chinese did also. probably even earlier. they had more "modern" tackle like silk lines and gut leaders and bamboo rods. they did the first split cane rods although, reels were unheard of as in egypt.
the first modern revolving spool multiplying reel is credited to gottfried spuhl in germany in 1701. he was a watchmaker and silversmith as well as an ardent angler. yes, he did name the spool after himself.
the earlier european and english rods (poles) were made of laminated yew and lemonwood. lines were of horse hair. still tied on the end.

What is the most expensive fishing reel?
I want to hear about fishing reels you either own or know about. Whoever tells me the most expensive reel gets 10 points
I would go with the Hardy Zane Ti Saltwater Fly Fishing Reel, which is made of super strong rustproof titanium and costs a whopping $9,700 (though a rod and line are included for free, so it's technically a package deal):

Second prize would go to the Shimano Stella 5000SW Spinning Reel, which would set you back by a cool $729.95, available at http://www.islanddiscounttackle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=STL5000SW&Category_Code=Shimano_Stella_SW_Reels&Store_Code=IDT

How do I clean a Shimano Chronarch fishing reel?
This reel is 10 years and has never been cleaned. Fishing in salt water.
I'm not familiar with that particular reel, but I'd say call the manufacturer, if they still exist, they should be able to help you.

What is in your mind the best quality long casting fishing reel?
I'm looking for a new long casting reel for surf fishing and throwing drum rigs off piers.
For heaving drum rigs the Penn Squidder 250. For long casting with plugs, buck tails and other artificial baits in the surf, one can never go wrong with the Penn 525 Mag and the Shimano Calcutta 400S or 400BSV. I have changed the bearings in the Calcuttas, with Abec 7 bearings. The smoothness and distance of my casts, have greatly improved., with the change. I use 17 to 20 lbs. test mono. Heavier lines tend to dampen the cast.
With the Penn 250 I use heavy action 11ft. rod. The Penn 525 is matched with an 11ft. rod custom made from a British made Conoflex blank (really good for long distance casting). The Calcuttas are matched with heavy action 8ft. Lamiglas baitcasters, good when fishing with bucktails and rubber worms and when walking the dog.

Reel fun: Fly Fishing Film Tour coming to Lyric Theatre TCPalm
STUART — Fly fishing may be the fastest growing aspect of saltwater fishing today, and a film tour highlighting that sport is coming to the area on Thursday.
“The appeal of the Drake Magazine Fly Fishing Film Tour is in the quality cinematography, combined with the story of the individual fish species,” said Capt. Mike Holliday, a Stuart fishing guide and outdoor writer. “Each segment of the film tour is deep and meaningful.”
After a big turnout of local fishermen for the inaugural show last year, Holliday and Rocky Point fishing guide Capt. John Meskauskas have brought the film tour back to the Lyric Theatre on Thursday.
Each year, Holliday said, the Drake Magazine hosts a showing of the newest fly fishing films from across the globe at the Denver Fly Fishing conclave, with the top films making the cut to tour the country. This year’s featured lineup includes fly fishing films targeting permit in Australia, redfish in South Carolina, brown trout in Argentina, snook and tarpon in the Florida Everglades.

Fly Fishing Reels - Know Your Facts
by Chipper Blakey
The most important piece of equipment to fly fishermen is the fly fishing reel. There are many different kinds of reels as well as there are different kinds of rods for different situations. It is not necessary to lay down a bunch of money for a new reel, although you can if you would like. A basic no frills fly reel will do in just about any situation, and if you do your homework and choose wisely, you will not have a need to replace it for many years.
Most trout fishermen strip their fly line manually rather than using the handle. Most fishermen will tell you that it is quicker to do it by hand, and you get more of a feel for the placement of your lure by keeping the line in your hand.
Depending on the situation that you are in, sometimes it is better to reel the line in manually and sometimes it is preferable to use the handle. When following a large fish most people prefer to use the handle for better control. Another situation to use the handle is when you have thick foliage and there is a chance of getting your line caught. If you are moving around in the water a lot, using the handle is a good idea.
Fishermen who reel their line in the most frequent are salmon fishermen. The reason of this is because more often than not, salmon fishermen will be in the water fishing. Trout reels are usually smaller than salmon reels, and are normally not as efficient in reeling line in as salmon reels are.
Technology is improving by leaps and bounds due to research companies like Sage in the fly fishing industry. Also fly fishing equipment is getting lighter with the use of graphite. A lot of your veteran fly fishermen prefer the older reels with a bit of weight in them to maintain the balance that they are familiar with.
