Local wreck and reef fishermen will finally be able to fish for black sea bass when the season re-opens on Saturday. Anglers will be allowed up to 25 fish a day, with a minimum keeper length of 12.5 inches. Effective baits for sea bass include fresh clams, squid, minnows and strips of boneless chicken that have been soaked in shedder crab oil. Inshore action on striped bass has been very good, with some of the best reports coming from anglers fishing from boats and along the jetties at the Indian River Inlet. Debbie Hannum topped the striper reports from Rick's Bait and Tackle with a 29-pound trophy caught from the jetty near the Coast Guard Station. Old Inlet Bait and Tackle also reported a good striper bite in the inlet, with Joseph Parsons' 25.5-pounder listed as the heaviest fish of the week.
