How do I change inches into Tea spoons or table spoons?
I am making a recipe which calls for 1 1/2 inches of Ginger Cube then grated.
But we bought the kind thats already grated, the powdery kind. But we dont know how much to put, since we cant measure it into cups since they arent cubed. So how many in teaspoons or table spoons would 1 1/2 inches be?
Carefully?
You cannot convert length into volume. It isn't possible. Recipes call for things to be measured in weight, volume, temperature, time and length. None of these forms of measurement are interchangeable. You'll just have to guess. Sorry.

How can I "take the temperature" of spoons?
My son is doing a science project testing how different materials (wood, plastic & metal) retain heat. He is planning on submerging the spoons in hot oatmeal and then getting the temperature of the spoon a specified amount of time after taking them out to determine the difference. I remember "sticker" type thermometers for my kids when they were babies but don't know what to use for something like this. Please advise ASAP!!! You will remove a lot of stress! Thank you.
you would have the same problem with the other materials
for the experiment to make sense the materials would have to have the same thickness and size, or are you dealing with density?
I would suggest using two of everything, and taping the two pieces together putting a thermometer in between. you would most likely need to buy a thermometer for the temperatus you are measuring (above 106 or so for human med thermometers)
a probe with the reading from distance would be best since you want to record and show the change in temp.
the probes would all need to be at the same temp to begin with and the items should be measured at same room temp - not next to each other where one material could put out heat to the others
