Will be whitetail deer hunting. I want 1 to 2 inch grouping from a bench rest at distances of 300 yrds. 180gr. winchester elite, did not group that good at 100 yrds.

H is right, the twist of the rifling matters because a specific rifling doesn't always stablize all bullets.

However, 300 wsm remington factory barrel is going to be fine stablizing any bullet weight between 150 and 200 absolutely no problem. I also have no doubt that it would stablize a 120 grain to 220 grain, just right now I don't think any of that is factory produced.

Now, what bullet weight is most accurate is going to vary from individual rifle to individual rifle, and even then, bullet weight is just one factor. I'd say find the bullet weigh you want, and then test different loads to see which one is most accurate.

You'd never want to choose a very light weight bullet to go moose hunting with just because it was the most accurate.

Remember, light bullets for lighter animals, and heavier bullets for heavier animals

What bullet do you think I should use?

well, it would have helped to know the fps of your gun. but if your gun shoots 460 /2.'s... well ima guess that because thats the average for L96's

.20: Velocity: 460 fps Accuracy: poor
.25: Velocity: 410 Accuracy: average
.30: Velocity: 375 Accuracy: great

.3's will go about 25 feet less than .25's and 50 ft less than .2's, however the pain from all bb's will be the same. this is because its the same amount of energy in the bb, just a heiver bb will slow it down.

It depends if you are fishing heavy cover or deep open water. Use a bullet weight pegged to the line with a tooth pick when fishing heavy cover. If fishing deeper open water use the bullet weight free sliding. When fishing shallow waters with lite weeds, use the lizard with no weight. Lizards are a great choice durning the spring spawn.

With a bullet sinker as in "Texas rigged"? Bounce it along the bottom S-L-O-W-L-Y. Your best bet would be using the lizard on a Carolina rig.

The 175 does not seem to give up much as far as flatness goes to 160gr. So this seems like a good choice, but I know a lot of guys use the 160/162's on the bigger stuff. Is this a good caliber for elk/moose? Thanks.

Use the 175 grain Nosler Partition. Within 300 yards, the drop between the 160 and 175 is negligable but the extra bullet weight is a plus. Better yet, use a .338 Winchester with 250 grainers.
