Weight????
YA1Q9447 v2

I'm 5'7" (not done growing) and weigh about 125 lbs. Is this an ideal weight for someone this height? I really want to model, so I'm planning on SAFELY losing to about 115. Does that sounds better?
I'm 14 btw, so that's why I'm not done growing.

No your fine at 125

How much weight will I lose if I start to jog and do weight watchers?
2010 Schwalbe Rocket Ron EVO 26x2.25 mounted up - 27.04.10 #9466 v2

I want to lose weight but I am not all about that diet pill stuff. I tried weight watchers before but I was really busy with getting things ready for my wedding that it was the last thing on my mind to eat right.
If I do weight watchers and run/gym how much weight do you think I would lose in about 2 weeks?

everyone body is different. Remember too if you decide to exercise you have to use your activity points calculator to determine how many extra points you get for the day. But everyone's body loses weight at a different rate. Someone who jogs everyday while on weight watchers for two weeks could lose 5 lbs where are someone else could lose only 2. A bunch of different things factor into this including what you are eating everyday, how much activity you are doing, how fast your body reacts to exercise (some people need to exercise only days before seeing results while others need to exercise a month before seeing results) how fast your body gains muscle mass, how much water you are drinking, how much water your body retains after exercise and so on and do fourth so there is no way of knowing how much you will lose but cardio IS the best form of exercise for burning fat. Just make sure you are at least doing moderate exercising meaning you are pushing yourself but not too hard (just hard enough that you start to sweat after about 10-15 minutes) and doing at least a half hour of exercise each time.

Is a weight lifter lifting weights converting his work into kinetic energy?
2010 Schwalbe Racing Ralph EVO 26x2.25 - 27.04.10 #9475 v2

Is a weight lifter lifting weights converting his work into kinetic energy?

If a hand is swinging a string with a ball attached to the end, is the string doing work on the ball?

Is the work done by a mountain climber's weight force (weight x distance he climbed along the slope)?

Is a bullet going in the negative x coordinate direction -1/2mv^2 and a bullet going in the positive x coordinate direction +1/2mv^2 ?

Not sure about the first one because it could be considered kinetic energy because the weights are moving, but potential energy makes more since

yes the string has tension(force) upon on it which keeps the ball from flying away

yes, its force times distance, there would be both in the x and y direction

i don't understand the last question but if its the same bullet they have no kinetic energy

What weight supplements work the best and the fastest for horses?

Our mare gets fed grain morning and night (4 scoops..if that helps). We have her on a worming schedule and we also feed her weight builder. She also is on free roam pasture. We cant seem to get her to gain weight.

1. if her teeth haven't been floated in over a year, this will cause her to not gain weight, because she can't grind the food well enough for it to do any good.

2. just because you worm your horse, doesn't mean you get all of the parasites. if you live in an area that's got humidity and parasites year round, you will want to use Panacure 5 day wormer once a year to clean her out (it kills everything but slowly so as not to cause colic)

3. forget about weight builders. most of em are a big waste of money. just make sure that she is eating good quality hay. if the hay isn't very good, she won't gain weight even if she eats a lot of it.

4. if all she gets is pasture grass, this may be the problem. she needs grass hay, too.

5. get HorseQuik by Nutrena. It's a complete feed that you can give her (average for a 1,200 pound horse: 9-12 pounds a day...split it up in 3 pounds of it at a time) Once she starts to gain weight (she should start to look different in 2 weeks. can take 1 month to see a real big difference)....then cut it down to 9 pounds a day (3 pounds at a time)

You can put corn oil on it, too for more fat.

If you can get some alfalfa, you can mix that with her grass hay, too. Feed the mix 3-4 times a day...or at least the grass hay, pretty much leave a bale out in a manger or an empty trough. Let her pick at it all day long. The pasture doesn't sound like it's good enough for her to just be eating it. Some pasture is rich and will fatten up any horse, other pastures...based on the soil and the minerals, etc....is basically filler. It won't do much for the horse but keep her busy.

There's also Horselick....it's a tub of 40 pounds supplement that you just leave it out for her to lick and bite on. A $30 value that can last you a long time for just the one horse and put some calories in her along with supplements.

Any grain that you get...find the stuff that higher in fat, not necessarily protein. read the labels. Stay out of sweet feed, that's got a lot of sugar.

Lifting weights to build muscle and help with weight loss?

Well, I'm planning on starting a diet/workout routine, and I've heard that if you lift weights and build some muscle first, you burn calories faster and more efficiently. We have an elliptical, so I'll be doing cardio on that, and I believe my mom has some of those little one arm weights hanging around somewhere. For someone who's never done this sort of exercise, what weight should I start with, how should I do my workout, for how long, and how often? I'm 15 and about 40 lbs overweight for my height, and any advice is appreciated!

Don't listen to the first girl.

It's an awesome way. Just start with 5 lbs and use them with lunges and what not too..(makes it tons harder) you will see results.

After 5lbs get too hard...go to 10 lbs weights.

5 lbs in each hand...you think it's not too much...but it's good til you get used to it.

Good Luck! Enjoy the muscles and tone :)

How Can I Lose weight effectively when excercise causes weight gain?

I am 35 yrs old and have gone thru premature menopuase. As a result I was using HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy - which contains steroids) for 3 1/2 years. This as well as the menopuase has caused me to gain a lot of weight. I was not aware of the steroids and the effects until I came off the drug. I have been trying to exercise to get it off but I have found that exercising causes me to gain weight. I know weight training is supposed to help but will not be able to sign up for a gym until the next couple months (i'm paying for a vehicle). I would certainly appreciate any suggestions that you might have. The weight is affecting my asthma and I need to get rid of it before other complications set in. I am not used to the weight and have been a professional athlete for at least 15 yrs of my life. People cannot belileve how big I've gotten and it's too personal to explain to them why so I just make excuses although a lot of them believe that I've eaten myself to this state.

One thing to take into consideration is that the exercise maybe actually re-building muscle tone and unfortunately muscle weighs more than fat hence the weight gain.

A work around for this maybe to take measurements using a tape rather than using scales which can be very disheartening.

As for athsma perhaps look at swimming (a lot of the worlds best swimmers are Athsmatics who took it up to relieve the symptoms) or simply walking - you want to try and keep your heartrate low in the so called "fat burning" zone, which is the place where you can still talk comfortably, but arent just out for a stroll.

Just remember that time is on your side - just done expect lightening quick results in your case - slow and steady will win the race. The benefit you have is that with your previous professional athlete status is that you should get fit quick and feel better in quicktime.

One major hint is to drink lots of water. It will flush the system and the body gets used to having it regularly and as such wont look to retain fluid.

'Fences' Star Viola Davis on Race, Weight and Hollywood Wall Street Journal (blog)

Viola Davis, who is currently earning raves starring alongside Denzel Washington in “Fences” on Broadway, says Hollywood is still sometimes size and shade conscious when it comes to casting.

Davis, a Tony-winning and Oscar-nominated actress, told Speakeasy that it’s sometimes difficult for African-American actresses who “don’t look like a classical beauty” to get romantic leads in Hollywood.

In an interview with Davis, Speakeasy brought up the fact that she often looks more glamorous on the red carpet than she does in her movies.

Davis says that while other actresses are allowed to have an “off-centered beauty” on screen and play roles as lovely geeks, or the pretty-but-unfashionable girl next door, she finds that for black actresses “if you’re darker than a paper bag, if you’re not a size two , you’re not considered beautiful, and you’re not sexualized at all.” Instead, she says, black actresses often get roles in which they are portrayed as “strong, grounded, nurturing, philosophical”–but not objects of desire (not that there’s anything necessarily wrong with those other characteristics).

Can I pay weight loss expenses with my HSA?

As part of my participation in the personal finance bloggers weight loss challenge I decided to investigate what weight loss expenses I could pay for with my Health Savings Account (HSA).

The short answer is no, you can't use your health savings account to cover the cost of getting in shape but there are a few exceptions.

After taking my most pressing question, "Is the fact that my doctor told me I should lose weight at my last appointment enough to make a weight loss class eligible to be paid by my health savings account?" to several experts I asked Fred Adams, "The HSA Expert", to give it to me straight.
